Sachiko K. Watanabe, known to friends and family as “Karen,” passed away on Dec. 19, 2018, at the age of 86. Born in Lahaina, Hawaii, Karen was a long-time resident of Gardena.
Karen will be lovingly remembered by her husband Donald Watanabe; son, Wayne (Patrice) Watanabe, with children Reid, Janine and Katie. Her daughter, Susan (Robert) Nakashiba, with children Christine, Russell, and Lindsay, with one great-grandchild Maddie Nakashiba. She is survived by her sisters Momoyo Tada, Yaeko (Ted) Kawamura and Clare (Frank) Kihara.
At the request of the family, a private service was held on Dec. 28 at Fukui Mortuary Chapel, Los Angeles, with Rimban William Briones of Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple officiating.
The family has requested no koden.
