Thomas Mitsuji Sunada
December 21, 1932 – January 6, 2019

Thomas Mitsuji Sunada of La Habra passed away on January 6, 2019, at the age of 86. Born in Hilo, Hawaii on December 21, 1932, he spent his formative years on his beloved Big Island. In 1954 he graduated from the University of Hawaii, with a degree in Business/Accounting. Soon after he moved to California, where he met Muriel Hirotsu. They married in 1960 and had two children. While working for the Los Angeles Unified School District, Thomas continued his education to earn a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University. In 1991 Thomas retired from a long and successful career as a Supervisor of Student Body Finances for LAUSD. He was able to spend his retirement years enjoying the company of family, cruising around the world, fresh water fishing, and participating in the activities of Orange County Buddhist Church. Now that Thomas is at rest, he is survived by his wife, Muriel (Taeko) Sunada of La Habra, son Mark (Masayuki) and daughter Fay (Yukiko), as well as his grandchildren Tyler and Joe.

Anyone who knew Thomas Sunada would agree that our hearts are heavy with the loss of this kind man. Services for Thomas Mitsuji Sunada will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Orange County Buddhist Church. No Flowers Please, at the request of the family.
