Ayako Linda Seu

Ayako Linda Seu, San Diego-born Nisei, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2019 at her home in Harbor City, California, after a 14 month struggle with cancer.

Predeceased by her husband Charles Grant Lai Min Seu, and siblings Ichiye (Akiji) Ochi, Eiji (Maria) Oya, and Chiseko Oya, Linda is survived by her son Nolan Seu, brother Paul Oya and many nieces, nephews, family members and dear friends.

During World War II, Linda was incarcerated with her family at Poston, Arizona. After the war, her family moved to Ogden, Utah for her father’s work on the Southern Pacific Railroad. After his accidental death in 1947, the family returned to San Diego.

After graduating from UCLA, Linda’s career included using her bilingual skills at Mitsubishi, and 42 years of teaching in the Los Angeles Unified School District. In her retirement, she enjoyed league bowling, being an active member of Zen Nippon Arinkai (a prominent koi organization), and the occasional trip to Las Vegas.

Linda will be best remembered for her out-going personality, her enthusiasm in all things, her generosity throughout her life, and her love of dressing beautifully and wearing very high heels.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 11:00 AM, at Cypress View Mausoleum and Mortuary, 3953 Imperial Ave, San Diego.
