Fumiko (Fumi) Katayama
November 5, 1918 – March 1, 2019

Fumi passed away peacefully at her home in Orange, California with her family by her side. She was 100 years young. Born in Ogden, Utah to parents of Shichizo and Ume Takahashi, she is one of four children; sisters, Fusako (Fuzzy) Shimizu and Momoyo (Moe) Saisho; ​brother, Sadao (Sud) Takahashi (predeceased). Fumi met her husband, Kazunori (Kaz) Katayama in Ogden, Utah and later married in November 1944. They spent the next 72 years living in Los Angeles and Orange County until Kaz’s death in 2016.

Her gentle nature and heartwarming personality will be missed by all. She is survived by her son, Richard (Elaine, predeceased) Katayama; daughter, Kristine (Earl) Carson; granddaughter, Candice Katayama; sisters, Fusako (Fuzzy) Shimizu and Momoyo (Moe) Saisho; sister-in-laws, Emi Yamaki, Etsu Andow and Marion (Kumi) Katayama, plus many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

A private Celebration of Life to be held by the family on March 23, 2019.
