Helen “Ha-chan” Hatsue Yamane
January 10, 1937 – April 2, 2019
Helen “Ha-chan” Hatsue Yamane, a native of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away peacefully in her home on
April 2, 2019 at the age of 82 in Montebello, California, surrounded by close friends and relatives.
Her husband, Carl Yamane, predeceased her.
She was survived by cousin, Allan T. Yoza and cousin, Amy E. Ke of HI, Yoza, Gima, Nagahama, Uyehara
and Gakiya families, many cousins in HI, CA, and Okinawa, Japan.
Helen lived in Hawaii and Okinawa before relocating to California. While living in San Jose where Carl
was employed by Mitsubishi, she worked as an executive secretary for Ricoh and after relocating to Montebello for Ralph M. Parsons in Pasadena.
After retiring, she became an active member of the Montebello Plymouth Congregational Church. An avid gardener at the YMCA Community Garden, Helen loved sharing her freshly grown vegetables with friends. She had a soft spot in her heart for animals and generously supported many organizations protecting animal rights. Helen was a beautiful caring person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
