Koichi Hosokawa
August 3, 1948 – June 11, 2019
Koichi Hosokawa died June 11 at City of Hope. He was born August 3, 1948 at Matsudo, Chiba Prefecture, Japan as the second of four children of Atsuyoshi and Nobuko Hosokawa. He came to the United States with his family in 1954. Growing up in Los Angeles he found a passion for dancing and especially baseball.
Koichi attended Cal State LA serving as the President of Beta Omega Phi where he would meet his future wife, Pat, at a fraternity mixer. He earned a degree in Civil Engineering but quickly realized this was not the career for him. He returned to school and enrolled in accounting classes. He started his career in accounting as an intern at Coopers & Lybrand. He earned his CPA and would go on to work at ACME General and Furon before becoming the CFO at Kingston Technology.
Koichi and Pat loved going to dinner with friends and attending Broadway shows and concerts. They enjoyed traveling and would frequently visit Lake Tahoe and Hawaii. Koichi shared his love for baseball with his children and grandchildren as an Angels season ticket holder.
Koichi was a dedicated family man and friend. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children:
Stacey Hosokawa, and Brian Hosokawa and daughter-in-law, Julie; five grandchildren: Haley (15), Rylie (12),
Sadie (3), and twins Roy & Aiden (15 mos); brother Shinji Hosokawa and sister-in-law, Mary; sisters:
Kazuko Iwasaki, and Michiko Ogino and brother-in-law, James; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services will be held Monday, July 15 at 11AM at Skyrose Chapel at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
