A private funeral service for Irene Yaeko Kono, 89-year-old, Honolulu, Hawaii-born Sansei, who passed away on July 31, 2019 in Mission Viejo, Calif., was held on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019 at Gardena Buddhist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Grace (Vernon Wells) Kono-Wells and Deborah (Anthony) Hsu; grandson, Jeremy Hsu; many siblings in Hawaii; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives in the U.S. and Japan.
