Tsuru Matsuda Nomiyama
August 26, 1920 – August 19, 2019

On August 19, 2019, Tsuru Matsuda Nomiyama, loving mother and grandmother passed away
at the age of 98.

Tsuru was born on August 26, 1920 in Los Angeles California to Akino and Teiichi Matsuda. Tsuru
graduated from Huntington Beach High School, and was interned at Poston Arizona with her family.
On February 20, 1949, she married Tetsuo Tim Nomiyama. They raised two daughters, Lisa (husband Paul),
and Suzi. Also survived by four grandchildren, Scott Thomas Tetsuo, Amy Erin Minerich, Maile Tsuru
& Jessica Akemi Hoffmann.

Tsuru always lived with a glass-full disposition, she always was thinking of others above herself,
and maintained a positive and strong attitude throughout her life. She was an accomplished cook,
loved baking and cake decorating, sewing, needlepoint, crocheting and knitting. She served as a Girl
Scout Leader and played tennis in her youth. In her later years, she watched her favorite baseball
team The Angels, and played cards. She was proud to have provided her family with lifelong memories
of family vacations to Bridgeport California to go trout fishing every summer.

Tsuru was preceded in death by her husband Tim. She is survived by her sister Terry Tabata, and
her brothers Tadao and Tsune Matsuda, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Friday, October 4th at 12 noon at Westminster
Memorial Park, 14801 Beach Blvd, followed by a lunch reception.
