Dr. Koichi Mera, age 86, a Princeton resident and beloved father, grandfather, husband and teacher, passed away on Dec. 17, 2019. Born Oct. 13, 1933 in Seoul, Korea, was born to Ayaha and Kazuomi Mera.
Koichi was pre-deceased by his loving wife Masako Mera and survived by his children Yuhka, Yumi and Eiki and his five grandchildren.
Koichi, a graduate of University of Tokyo and a Ph.D. from Harvard University in City and Regional Planning, worked at The World Bank and taught at Tsukuba University and University of Southern California.
He was a man of great intellect, independent thinking and love for his family. He is the author of numerous books and involved himself in political issues in his latter days with his partner.
Koichi was a leader in the Japanese community in Los Angeles as well as in Princeton.
