Mizushima, George Yutaka

Dr. George Yutaka Mizushima, 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles on May 3, 2020, surrounded by his loved ones.
George was born on December 30, 1928, in Los Angeles to Dr. Nagisa and Kazuko Mizushima. He grew up with his older siblings, John and Irene.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, receiving the Bronze Star.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern California, George attended Saint Louis University where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He practiced dentistry for over 30 years in Los Angeles.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Sumiko; children, Alan (Linda) Mizushima, Gregory (Grace) Mizushima, Marcus (Christine) Mizushima and Shirley (Keith) Mizushima-Sakimura; grandchildren: Kylie Mizushima, Justin Mizushima, Melanie Mizushima, Carina Sakimura and Amanda Sakimura; sister Irene Schoon and many nieces and nephews.
He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed.
A private family funeral service was held at Fukui Mortuary “Chapel in the Garden,” with Reverend Clifford Ishigaki officiating.
