Tazu Hamano
February 22, 1926 – May 2, 2020

Tazu Hamano (née Tanaka) was born in Wakayama on February 22, 1926. She passed away on May 2, 2020 in Torrance, California.

She was predeceased by her husband Muraji and son George Katsuya. She is survived by her daughter Marjorie Machiko (Donald) Currier, son Richard Yuzo, sisters Toshiko and Isoyo in Japan, and many relatives in Japan and the US.

Tazu had a big smile and a hearty laugh. She loved to write uta (a form of Japanese poetry) and sing, occasionally on stage. She also liked to travel and tend to her vegetable and flower garden. Her friends were reluctant to drive on the freeway so she would take them to Little Tokyo, and once got a speeding ticket. Her warmth, wisdom and generosity will be sorely missed by family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of koden, the family requests that you donate to your favorite charity or Koreisha Senior Care and Advocacy.
