Tom Takeshi Takeichi
(1937 – 2020)

Takeshi “Tom” Takeichi, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend passed away peacefully on June 2, 2020 at the age of 84.

Tom was born in 1937 in Ninomiya-machi, Kanagawa, Japan, one of four sons, to Yaozo and Teru Takeichi. In 1954, at the young age of 17, Tom moved to the United States, where he completed high school and later graduated from the School of Architecture at the University of Southern California.

Tom returned to Japan to marry his wife Haruko in 1968. Tom and Haruko returned to the United States after the wedding to begin their life in America and raise a family. They were married happily for 52 years.

Tom was a practicing architect since 1971, and was the founding principal of Tom Takeichi Associates and Tomco International, a design-build firm. He designed many well-known commercial and institutional projects throughout his career.

Tom enjoyed karaoke, traveling with his family and spending time with his grandchildren. In his free time, he was an active member in Kanagawa Kenjinkai and Asian American Architect/Engineers Association. Tom will always be remembered and missed dearly for his generous heart, kind spirit, and sense of humor that would make everyone smile.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife Haruko; daughter Eileen; son Mark; son-in-law Chester; and grandchildren Garrett, Nadine, Jayden and Landon.

A private funeral service was held for immediate family members. Details of a memorial and celebration of Tom’s life will be announced at a future time.
