Hidy, long time Sawtelle Japantown resident died at Hollenbeck Palms Nursing Home. She was the beloved mother of Bin (Joanne), Diane (Paul Conlon) and Bruce; 3 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. During WWII she and her parents were interned at Manzanar Internment Camp. It was there she met Jiro.
Hidy was unassuming, selfless and ever unflagging in her efforts to support the family. She participated in her children’s sports, Boy Scout, Girl Scout and YMCA clubs. While she had a kind and sensitive nature, she was the driving force for the success of the family. She instilled a desire to succeed through education and always supported the efforts of her children and grandchildren.
Hidy was an active member of the WLA United Methodist Church Women’s Auxiliary and the Continuing Education for the Nikkei Widowed organization. Photography and travelling became hobbies in her later years. She and her husband Jiro organized group travels throughout the world.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, funeral services were not held and burial services were private. The family plan to hold a memorial get-together when a vaccine is available and it is safe to gather in a group.
