Kenny Kazunori Takaki was born on May 16, 1925 in Los Angeles to Kazuchika Takaki and Maru Fujiyoshi. He passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on February 4, 2021 at the West Los Angeles Veterans Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife, Chieko, and his children: Michael (Nancy), Frank (Cindy), Dorothy Kunihiro (Terry), Richard (Donna), Don (Leta), Katherine, and his many grandchildren, great-granddaughter, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by his siblings: Osame Gotanda and Teruko Fujiyoshi of Japan. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Arlene Ching.
Kenny was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars and a Purple Heart. He was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans associations, having served as Commander of DAV Chapter 100 for many years. A private family service will be held on February 27, 2021 at Fukui Mortuary. He will be laid to rest at Angelus Rosedale Cemetery in Los Angeles.
