Mrs. Ruth Mitsuko Ogomori

Ruth Mitsuko Ogomori passed away peacefully on December 14, 2020 in Torrance, Calif. She was 102 years old. Ruth was born in Honomu on the Big Island of Hawaii.

In her teens she moved to Honolulu. Working at different jobs, she especially enjoyed her time at Shriners Children’s Hospital as a practical nurse.

In Honolulu she met her husband David Ogomori and they married in 1943. Together they had three children, daughters Diane and Susan and son Howard. The family of five made the move to Los Angeles in 1954 then settled in Gardena four years later.

Ruth enjoyed working with her hands crocheting lovely items of all sizes, flower arranging was her forte along with being a great cook and the perfect hostess. We will miss her signature nishime she made with love for all family gatherings. Together with David their home was a warm and welcoming place for visiting family and friends. Loving to travel they were able to visit many cities in the US along with several trips abroad to Japan and Canada. Her priority was her family and thoroughly loved being Grandma and Bachan. She was present to support them in all their activities.

Ruth will be remembered for her kind and gentle manner, loving personality and beautiful smile. She will be greatly missed and remain in our hearts forever.

Ruth is survived by her loving family: children, Diane Tengan, Susan Yamamoto and Howard (Sharon) Ogomori; grandchildren, Ryan (Denyce), Brandon, Kenny, Kathryn (Bon), David and Claire; and loving great grandchildren, Kalen, Ryden and Kaiden. Also survived by brother-in-law, Wilfred (Mae) Ogomori; sister-in-law, Ann Ogomori and many nieces and nephews in Hawaii.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years David Uichi Ogomori; brother, Jack Satoru Shimizu; and sons-in-law Ron Yamamoto and John Tengan.
