Ronald Kiyoshi Tsukayama
June 1, 1938 – February 1, 2021
Ronald Kiyoshi Tsukayama, born on the island of Kauai, Hawaii to Kana Tsukayama and Kama Hanashiro, passed away on February 1, 2021.
Married Kazue “Kay” Kaya on February 11, 1961, widowed July 6, 2016, he was a resident of Torrance, Calif. since 2000.
Ronald was an electronic technician for 20 years for Kesight Corporation in El Segundo, Calif.
As a dedicated family man, Ronald found it very important to support and provide for his immediate and extended family. He enjoyed talking story with family and friends, even strangers. Dad could spend an entire day with his real passion, gambling at a casino. The high roller would then use his winnings to indulge at the most extravagant buffet.
Ronald found it helpful to give out advice to everyone that would listen. As the world’s best backseat driver, he would tell anyone that was driving him exactly how to drive. I will always hear him say “brake,” “watch that car,” and “don’t go too fast.” Also, my dad would remind us to take out the trash and move his car on street sweeping day even from his ICU bed. The man loved a good cold beer with pizza on Fridays and could seriously jam out on his ukulele with a big smile on his face. Most of all Ronald had the best little buddy ever, Hayes, his two-year-old grandson.
Ronald loved his job and was a dedicated professional. His job was his hobby. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant. My dad was a strong willed man with a heart of gold. He was everything you could ask for as a husband, father, and grandfather.
Ronald is survived by his sister Ellen; son and daughter-in-law Todd and Corinna Tsukayama and two grandchildren Hayes and Archer (1 week) Tsukayama.
DAD / PAPA will be greatly missed.
