Hiroshi Kageyama

Hiroshi Kageyama of West Los Angeles passed away peacefully April 1, 2021, at the age of 90. He was the second of four siblings born to Kumaichi and Kuniye Kageyama. The family resided in the Sawtelle area of West L.A., where they established the F.K. Nursery.

Upon the U.S. entering WWII, Hiro and his two younger brothers were separated from their parents and sent to the Manzanar War Relocation Center in 1942. The family eventually reunited and at the conclusion of the war returned to the Sawtelle area, where they reopened their nursery business.
Hiro graduated from University HS (‘48) and received his degree in business administration from UCLA (‘53). With his keen business acumen and unwavering dedication to provide for his family, Hiro and his brother, Akira, built F.K. Nursery into a thriving business that continues to operate today and is a monument to his legacy.

Hiro was preceded in death by his sister, Ruby; brother, Hideo; and daughter, Diane. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Betty; brother, Akira; sons, Mark, David, Ronald and Eric; daughter, Julie; 10 grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

There will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers or koden, the family asks that you please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
