Mary Atsuko (Arai) Sakatani

Private graveside service for Mary Atsuko Sakatani, 89, Seattle-born Nisei and resident of Torrance, who passed away on February 26, 2021, was held on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Green Hills Memorial Park, with Daniel Matsuda, associate pastor of Gardena Valley Baptist Church, performing the final blessing.

Mary, who is predeceased by her sister, Frances Shropshire, is survived by sons, Richard Alan (Charlene) of Torrance, William Douglas (Mary Ann) of Lake Forest, Robert Lewis of Torrance, Michael David (Christine) of Honolulu, Hawaii; daughters, Susan Lianne (Michael) Castro of Torrance, and Patricia Lynne (Russell) Bankson of Southlake, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Ben Arai of Bronx, New York; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
