Yoshiaki Hamaguchi

Yoshiaki Hamaguchi went to be with his Lord and Savior on the morning of March 20, 2021 at the age of 97. He was preceded in death by his son, Randy T.; his first wife, Aris Himeko; his brother Harry; and his second wife, Fujiko Hamaguchi. He is survived by his wife, Masako; sister, Marge; daughters, Julie and Rachel; grandchildren, Tim, Jacob and Jennifer; and many other nieces and nephews.

Yoshi was born in Los Angeles, Calif. and then raised by his grandmother in Japan for 11 years, but returned to the U.S. six months before World War II began. After being released from the internment camp, he went to live with his father and worked as a gardener. At age 25, Yoshi served in the U.S. Army. He then resided in Pasadena and Los Angeles for the rest of his life. He was an Elder at the Union Church of Los Angeles and never stopped sharing the message about Jesus to everyone he met. He and Masako traveled extensively and was thrilled to see his L.A. Dodgers win the World Series again in 2020.

A private funeral service is scheduled at graveside in April. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Union Church of Los Angeles to the Yoshiaki Hamaguchi Memorial Fund.
