Visitors to Japanese Village Plaza in Little Tokyo were disappointed to find the Mikawaya Mochi Ice Cream store closed on Tuesday. The long-time treat shop was empty, with only a brief explanation posted on its doors: “Effective 6/29/21, Mikawaya will be closed permanently.” The Rafu is following up on the story. I ate in there once and liked it but the Marukai store down the street has deserts like ice cream for a lot cheaper.
