VISTA — Vista Buddhist Temple, 150 Cedar Rd. in Vista, will hold its Obon Festival on Saturday and Sunday, July 22-23, from 2 to 8 p.m.

The annual gathering of joy and remembrance will feature:

Bon Odori dancing: Join the dance circle in celebration and gratitude of those that came before you. Rehearsal 4:30 to 5 p.m., dancing 6:30 to 8 p.m. both days.

Taiko drumming: Catch a performance of the Shokenji Taiko drum group’s greatest hits. 5:15 to 6 p.m. both days.

Discussions on Buddhism: Learn about Shin Buddhism and hear a Buddhist Dharma message. 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. both days.

Homestyle Japanese foods: Try delicious foods including: manju, chirashi, Spam musubi, Japanese curry, somen salad, taikoyaki, and mochi ice cream.

Japanese cultural activities: Come watch a judo demo, learn about the Japanese Language School, and win prizes at the game booth. Judo 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Saturday. Art Club of San Diego sumie-e demonstration 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Sunday.

Local produce, plants and marketplace: Shop a variety of local produce, plants, handmade crafts, teacups and small goods.
