Dr. Mark Hideki Kawachi passed away peacefully on December 9, 2023. Mark was born in Los Angeles to the late Shunpaku and Tomiko Kawachi on March 21, 1954. He was educated at USC, where he earned a B.S. in biology in 1975 and an M.D. in 1979. A proud Trojan, Mark also completed his internship, residency, and fellowship at USC. Mark loved medicine and caring for his patients as the director of the Prostate Cancer Center at City of Hope. In collaboration with his colleagues, Mark pioneered one of the top robotic urologic programs in the nation.
Above all else, Mark was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by Sharon, his wife of 40 years; sons, Kevin and Curtis; daughter, Mackenzi; and three grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters, who reside in California, and one brother, who resides in Japan. He will be missed by many.
