As part of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, a presentation on civil rights leader Sei Fujii (1882-1954) will take place on Sun-day, May 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. (doors open at 1:30 p.m.) at Southeast Japanese School and Community Center, 14615 Gridley Rd., Norwalk.

Fujii is the subject of a short film, “Lil Tokyo Reporter,” and a book, “A Rebel’s Outcry.” He opened the door for thousands of Japanese American families to purchase a home in California by overturning the California Alien Land Law in 1952. Fujii was also an outspoken publisher before the time of the civil rights movement.

Meet actor Chris Tashima and filmmaker Jeffrey Gee Chin from the Little Tokyo Historical Society. Their presentation on Fujii’s personality and character along with his historic accomplishments will bring Fujii to life. A short video on Fujii will be shown, followed by a question-and-answer session.

Seating is limited. For more in-formation, call (562) 836-5996 or visit: https://www.sejscc.org/aapi-heritage/
