A funeral service for Takako Yamashiro, 91-year-old, California-born Nisei, who passed away on May 6, 2024, was held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Gardena Buddhist Church, with Rev. John Iwohara officiating.
She is the widow of Haruo Yamashiro and is survived by her sons, Dennis, Chris (Margaret), and Stuart Yamashiro; daughter, Amy (John) McLaughlin-Yamashiro of Arlington, Va.; grandchildren, Richard, Denise, Andrew, and Lindsey Yamashiro, William McLaughlin-Yamashiro, Brittney Morrison and Tarin (Melina) Casillas; great-grandchildren, Mariko Cutts-Yamashiro, Reignard Yamashiro, and Daniel and Catalina Casillas; also survived by other family members.
