
David Yutaka Takehara, Los Angeles, Calif. resident, passed away at age 78 on August 21, 2024, after a brief illness.
He was predeceased by his parents, Kazue and Torataro; brothers, Saburo and Yoneo. Funeral services will be held at L.A. Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple (Nishi), 815 E. 1st St., Los Angeles, on Saturday, Sept. 14, 4 p.m. under direction of Kubota Mortuary, (213) 749-1449.
David was the beloved husband of Yohko for just 8 days short of 48 years. He was the father of Dennis, Denise, and Dan (Kazu) with Colleen (Winston) Chu. Proud grandfather of Ashley (John), Jordan (Jaqlynne), Shawn and Brandon and Shane (Jasmin); great-grandfather of Christopher, Kaden and Keilani; and is survived by two brothers, Umio Takehara and Ken Hattori (Sherri); and many other nieces, nephews, and relatives.
David worked temporarily for Von’s full-time for 23 years while attending night school and raising 3 children. David graduated from CSULA with a bachelor’s degree in environmental health and worked for the Public Health Department until his retirement as chief EHS. He was admired and loved by his employees and co-workers because of his passion to teach and train.
