Masayo “Mas” Nishikawa, age 95, of Pasadena, California, passed away peacefully in her home of 71 years on December 27, 2024. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Masato and Hanayo (Kuruma) Kagawa.

Mas was a true leader, loyal friend, foodie, and had an incredible zest for life. Her smile and friendly personality were infectious and she made friends wherever she went. As a partner of Miyako restaurants (Pasadena, Torrance, and Orange), she dedicated nearly 50 years of her life to a career that she loved. Once retired, her life was filled with friends and family: playing tennis, traveling, dining out, and daily walks around the Rose Bowl. She created a community.

She is predeceased by her husband, Haru Harold Nishikawa; siblings, Hideo (Toto) Kagawa and Michiko (George) Yamamoto; brother-in-law, Toshio Nishikawa and sister-in-law, Susie (Nob) Tomita.

She is survived by nephews, Jon Masaki (Terri) Kagawa, James Hideo (Mari) Kagawa, Mark Stanley (Mary) Tomita and Jon Alan (Debbie) Tomita; nieces, Julie Akemi-Fujii (Stan) Sakai and Wendy Mariko Yamamoto, both of Arizona; sister-in-law, Nancy Kagawa; also survived by other dear relatives in California, Colorado and Hawaii.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 1, at 12:30 p.m. at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena. All who knew Mas are invited to attend and share in the community she created.
