University of Hawaii two-sport athlete Jarret “JJ ” Nielsen has decided to leave the Rainbow Warriors, enter the transfer portal and train his focus on baseball at another school. The freshman from Cerritos will leave football behind and make himself available when the portal opens on June 2. Nielsen enrolled at UH as a freshman and appeared in seven games for the baseball ’Bows, going 1-for-2 as a pinch hitter entering five games as a pinch runner. He was the Warriors’ co-No. 2 quarterback for the football team in spring training.

Meanwhile, his sister Jayden also has plenty to brag about, after receiving honorable mention to the All-Big West Conference team. The junior softball star at Cal State Northridge batted .308 in the just-completed season, with two home runs and 18 runs batted in.
