Tsuyako Miyashiro passed away on April 11, 2025, at the age of 92. She was born in Kapaau, Hawaii, on May 25, 1932.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Yukio (Choc) Miyashiro; sister, Akiko Maekawa; and parents, Denichi Nakamura and Shizuyo (Janis) Sakamoto.
She is survived by her daughters, Jan Hashizume and Karen Sorensen; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sisters, Ayako Imai, Natsue Yoneda, Haru McKee and Shizumi (Hank) Gronefeld; and sister-in-law, Sadako Pang.
A service will be held on May 17, 2025, at Venice Hongwanji Buddhist Temple at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire and no koden (monetary gifts).
Additional parking will be available at Venice Japanese Community Center, 12488 Braddock Dr., Los Angeles.
The family respectfully requests that flowers be omitted for the service.
