The WNBA’s newest team, the Golden State Valkyries, have signed local star Kaitlyn Chen, fresh off her national championship with the University of Connecticut.
The 5’-9” guard was a sensation at Flintridge Prep before playing at Princeton, then transferring to UConn. The Valkyries selected Chen as the 30th pick overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft, which took place April 15 in New York.
Chen joins Golden State’s 18-player training camp roster, in preparation for their inaugural season under head coach Natalie Nakase.
The Valkyries play their first game on May 6 when they host the L.A. Sparks in a preseason contest.
