June Miyamoto Donovan leads dancers at last year’s LBJCC ondo.
The Long Beach Japanese Cultural Center, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, will hold its annual Summer Festival on Saturday, June 28, from 3 to 9:30 p.m.
Enjoy a day of food, demonstrations and dancing. The schedule is as follows: Ikebana demonstration at 4 p.m.; Judo demonstration at 4:30 p.m.; Karate demonstration at 5 p.m.; Kendo demonstration at 5:30 p.m.; Ondo at 6:30 p.m.; Taiko performance at 8:30 p.m.
Everyone is invited to wear yukata or happi coats and participate in the ondo. The last dance practices will be held on Saturday, June 21, from 6 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday, June 25, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
