Junzo “Jake” Ohara was born in Los Angeles on July 15, 1929, to Shozo Nagamoto and Yoriko Ohara. He passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, in Monterey Park.

He is survived by daughter, Christiane “Christy” (Mike) Fujii; sons, David, Gregg (Stacy), Garrett (Susan), and Daniel (Carli); grandchildren, Jeffrey Jake, Keimi Fujii, Emily, Allison, and Kate Ohara; sister-in-law, Lily Ohara; Keiko Hamagiwa; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. He is predeceased by brother, Toshio; and sister, Rei (Shig) Kasama.

Jake loved fishing, karaoke, watching USC football and basketball, the Lakers and Dodgers. He was a charter member of the Bella Vista Optimist Club and attended St Mary’s Episcopal Church and Lifesong Community Church. 

Jake and his family were sent to the Heart Mountain Relocation Center in Wyoming. Returning to Los Angeles, he earned his PharmD at USC.

Along with business partners Tak Amano and Charles Ham, he owned and operated Grandview and Hillview Pharmacy in Monterey Park. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 6, 2025, 11 a.m. at Evergreen SGV Church in La Puente. Casual attire.
