Maryknoll Karate Club hosted its annual Chicken Teriyaki and Bingo Fundraiser on Sept. 21 in Little Tokyo.
In addition to the games and prizes, the star of the day was Maryknoll’s famous barbecue chicken, cooked on an open grill and laden with a generations-old teriyaki recipe. Approaching four decades since its inception, the event serves nearly 1,500 chicken dinners each year.
“This is the kind of thing we can do to reach out to the community, raise funds for our club and also donate to other organizations,” said Kei Teramoto, one of the Maryknoll Karate Club’s head instructors.
