The WWII Camp Wall and the City of Torrance will present a fundraiser featuring a concert by the Hiroshima Trio on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center, 3330 Civic Center Dr., Torrance. Reception at 6:30 p.m., concert at 7 p.m.
The concert by Hiroshima founding members Dan Kuramoto (woodwinds) and June Kuramoto (koto) and longtime member Kimo Cornwell (keyboards) will be followed by a live auction and a meet-and-greet with the artists. Attendees can then dance the night away to the live sounds of the ever-popular Kokoro.
All proceeds will go towards the additional $5 million that is needed to complete construction of the WWII Camp Wall, which will be built in Torrance’s Columbia Park. Envisioned by the late Kanji Sahara, it will include the names of more than 125,000 Japanese Americans who were incarcerated during World War II.
In addition to individual donations, sponsorships are available: Bronze ($5,000), Silver ($10,000) and Gold ($20,000).
