“Voices of Little Tokyo,” a documentary by Nana Nakano, a 2025 graduate of Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media, can be viewed online at www.pbssocal.org/shows/fine-cut/clip/voices-of-little-tokyo.
Little Tokyo is one of the 11 most endangered historical places in the U.S., according to the National Trust for Historic Preservation. When a mega development project is proposed to be built right outside of the community, four elderly community leaders — a tour guide, an activist, a resident, and a small business owner — voice their concerns.
“Voices of Little Tokyo” is being shown as part of PBS SoCal’s “Fine Cut,” which features a collection of short films from schools across Southern California, including winners in the categories of documentary, narrative and animation.
