Sherilyn Yuriko Takahashi, 5, a resident of Los Angeles and later Northridge, passed away peacefully with her parents by her side at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center on December 9, 2025. A private funeral service was held at Nishi Hongwanji Buddhist Temple in Los Angeles on December 27, 2025.

Sherilyn was born on June 10, 2020. She was known as the warrior princess, and certainly lived up to her nickname. She survived surgery after being diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor at the age of 5 months. She battled through 6 cycles of chemotherapy, 3 rounds of stem cell replacement, infantile spasms, and a stroke. And despite all of that, Sherilyn thrived. She was full of life. She was curious and playful. She loved giving kisses and hugs. And she could be very sassy. She fought until the very end, finally succumbing to complications that arose from chronic lung disease and pulmonary hypertension.

Sherilyn is survived by her parents, Aaron and Marie; grandfather, Kazuyuki Nakano; grandmother, Hideko Takahashi; as well as many cousins and other relatives.
