In celebration of a lifetime of giving and caring, we share the passing of Fusako Tsunoda Hamamoto, who died on January 21, 2026. She was 94 years old and lived a life full of quiet strength and dedication.
Born in 1931, Fusako grew up with her five siblings on the family farm in Ventura. She attended local schools until World War II abruptly changed her family’s path, leading them to an internment camp. After their release, the Tsunoda family returned to Oxnard, where Fusako continued her education, showing true resilience.
Her determination led her to a meaningful career as a RN. She was accepted into the USC School of Nursing and pursued a Masters Degree, caring for students for many years in the Los Angeles Unified School District, primarily at Berendo Middle School.
Fusako was a regular attendee of the W.L.A. United Methodist Church and enjoyed being part of the “Circle Groups” there. In her later years, she moved to live with her son, Steven, in Culver City, where she selflessly helped care for her mother, Kameyo, in their home.
She is survived by her son, Steven; her younger brother, Larry; and many loving nieces and nephews who will all miss her presence dearly. A private family service will be held at Ivy Lawn in Oxnard to honor her memory.
