It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Setsuko Kawamoto, 83, Itami, Osaka Japan-born and a longtime resident of Monterey Park, California, who passed away on December 29, 2025. She was predeceased by her husband, Mitsuo Kawamoto.
Setsuko was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Kawamoto; her son, Rick (Mika) Kawamoto; and her grandchildren, Nicholas Bohm, Michael Bohm, and Lina Kawamoto. She is also survived by her sister, Fumiko Matsuyama of Japan; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Toshiyuki and Tomoko Kawamoto; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held on February 14, 2026, 3 p.m. at Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple of Los Angeles, 505 East Third Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013.
