Yoko Tsukasa stars in “Late Autumn.”

Yasujiro Ozu’s “Late Autumn” (1960) will be screened on Sunday, March 15, at 2:30 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 2115 W. 182nd St., Torrance.

In “Late Autumn” (Japanese title: 秋日和 or Akibiyori), three older men attempt to help the widow of a late friend to marry off her daughter. The daughter is less than happy about the proposals, mainly because of her reluctance to leave her mother alone.

The film was selected as the Japanese entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 33rd Academy Awards but was not accepted as a nominee.
