Volunteers are being sought to clear the baseball field at Manzanar National Historic Site of weed sprouts on Saturday, April 4, from 8:30 to 1 p.m.
“Recent heavy rainfall has brought many sprouts,” said Dan Kwong of the Manzanar Baseball Project. “They’re young and small and easy to pull — for now. Let’s yank ’em out before they get big and ornery.”
Volunteers can work as much or as little as they want. Weeding tool provided, or bring your own favorite. Also bring hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, work gloves, water, lunch/snacks. Optional: kneepads, dust mask, bandanna.
Temperature range: mid-40s morning to high 60s afternoon.
