In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, guest speaker Dr. Lily Anne Welty Tamai will showcase how AAPI communities established businesses, places of worship and social networks during a period of agricultural and small-business development in Ventura County during the late 19th and 20th century.
The presentation will take place on Thursday, May 7, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Community Room at Camarillo Public Library, 4101 Las Posas Rd., Camarillo.
Tamai is an assistant professor of Asian American studies at CSU Channel Islands. She previously served as curator of history at the Japanese American National Museum.
