Margin Films’ Cinemasasianamerica, a retrospective of films by Quentin Lee, will take place from May 1 to 7 at Laemmle’s Royal, 11523 Santa Monica Blvd. in West Los Angeles. It includes the following:
Sunday, May 3, at 7 p.m.: 16th anniversary screening of “The People I’ve Slept With,” followed by Q&A with Lee, producer/writer Koji Steven Sakai, and lead actor Karin Ann Cheung.
A woman tries to find out who got her pregnant so that she can get married and live a normal life. The cast includes James Shigeta (in his final feature), Archie Kao, Lynn Chen, Wilson Cruz, Rane Jameson, Randall Park, Danny Vasquez, Chris Zylka, Dana Lee, Elizabeth Sung and Cathy Shim.
Monday, May 4, at 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m.: “The Unbidden” (2016), in which four best friends hosting a séance on the night before Halloween to help a struggling friend are held hostage by a mysterious young man demanding answers about a dark crime from their past.
Cast includes Tamlyn Tomita, Julia Nickson, Amy Hill, Elizabeth Sung, Hayden Szeto, Jason Yee, Michelle Krusiec, Akemi Look, Kimberly-Rose Wolter and Karin Anna Cheung.
Thursday, May 7, at 7 p.m.: Preview of three episodes of “Comedy InvAsian III,” featuring Erik Escobar, Trevor Jang, Ludi Lin, Michelle MaliZaki, Juno Men, Shivaan Nadan, Kitty Pine and Vanja Renee. Q&A with showrunners Sakai and Lee, comics Escobar and Pine. The first and only AAPI standup comedy TV series. Broadcast premiere TBD.
