Shinto Shrine of Shusse Inari in America has announced the following events:
Monday, June 1, at 7 p.m. — Tsukinami-sai 月次祭: At Tsukinami-sai, we show our respects, express gratitude, and communicate our desires to the Kami-sama 神様, the Nature Spirits, every month. Location: www.youtube.com/@ShintoInari
Tuesday, June 30, at 7 p.m. — Nagoshi-no-Harae 夏越之祓: Nagoshi-no-Harae is a ceremony to purify and to rid oneself of the first half of the year’s yakunan 厄難 (illness, accident, fight, etc.) or “bad luck,” and kegare 穢れ or “withered spirit.” Over the course of the first half of the year, the energy of a person’s spirit is diminished by tiredness, stress, and other pressures, so Nagoshi-no-Harae rituals are performed every June to cleanse and refresh this energy and recharge the spirit.
If you are interested in participating in Nagoshi-no-Harae ceremony, please see the information on the hitogata/pet katashiro/vehicle katashiro from our website (https://shintoinari.org/acceptingnagoshi2026/), fill out the application form, and donate ceremony fees, then send hitogata/katashiro via postal mail (or Fedex, UPS, etc.).
