
“Sae” will be screened on Saturday, June 20, at 9:30 p.m. at the Lumiere Cinema, 9036 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills, as part of the 15th annual Marina Del Rey Film Festival.
Written and directed by Yusaku Mizoguchi, who also appears in the film. After an unfortunate event, an aspiring Japanese art student named Sae (Luna Fujimoto) living in Los Angeles has to drop out of art school and work odd jobs to make ends meet so she can get back to pursuing her dream of living as a street artist.
The cast also includes Kay Floerke, Salome Costa, Cain Madison, Susan Kurata, Junko Cheng, Shigeto Terasaka, Jen Halbert and Tiffany Welch.
“Sae” won the Top Indie Film Awards for best writing and best editing (out of eight nominations); won the Golden Diamond Award for Best Feature Film (out of five nominations) at the Asian Film Festival Los Angeles; won the Jury Prize for best Director (out of three nominations) at the City of Angels Film Festival; and received nominations at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival and the Beyond Hollywood International Film Festival.
“Sae” will be shown with “Happy Anniversary, Babe.”
