Tayeko Helen Yamashiro, 91, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026. She was born in National City, Calif. After her father’s passing, she and her family lived in Japan before returning to the United States in 1948. She pursued her education, earned an AA degree and went on to build a meaningful career where she met her beloved husband, George. She worked for the Sumitomo Bank and the Torrance Unified School District. She is survived by her sister, Ayako; her children, Jeffrey (Joyce), Gary (Michael) and Jasmine (Sung); and six grandchildren, Justine, James, Jessica, Noah, Miah and Jonah. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents, Yonejiro and Hideyo; two sisters, Sayuri and Miyo; and brother, Ichiro. A private graveside service was performed at Green Hills Memorial Park.
