Little tykes, beaming parents and stars of the community beat the heat on July 25, enjoying the cool indoors at the 2026 Nisei Week Baby Show. Continuing the concept of staging the event at one of the many Japanese American community centers around Southern California with an eye toward hosting it at a different location each year, this year’s pageant of peppy kids was held at the East San Gabriel Valley Japanese Community Center in West Covina.

This year’s edition of the Baby Show drew more than 40 kids, ages 1 to 6 for a day of food, music and fun with friends and family. Veteran actor Aaron Takahashi returned as emcee for the show, led by chairperson – and former Baby Show contestant – Walter Nishinaka.

The winners in three age categories, who earned the privilege of riding on a special float in the Nisei Week Grand Parade on Aug. 16, are as follows:
