Ujinobu Niwa, 99-year-old Nisei born in Santa Barbara to Ujio and Haruko Niwa, passed away April 11, 2026, at his home in Brea. Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, August 15, 10 a.m. at Brea United Methodist Church, 480 N. State College Blvd., Brea, CA 92821
Nobu loved spending time with his family, church, and career at Unocal Research. He enjoyed bowling, tennis, golf, photography and fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Grace; son, Paul (Grace); daughter, Linda (Jasen) Thorpe; grandsons, Luke Niwa and Motoji Thorpe; granddaughter, Michaela Niwa; late brother Ujiaki’s wife, Amy Niwa; and their son, Stephen Niwa; brother-in-law, Rackham Fukuhara; sister-in-law, Helen Fukuhara; nephews, Brian and Matthew (Chin) Fukuhara.
