The Parkinson’s Support Group will meet on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Union Church of Los Angeles, 401 E. Third St. in Little Tokyo.
The guest speaker will be Sherrie Gould, MSN, NP-C, CMRD, a nationally e-certified nurse practitioner who specializes in movement disorder in La Jolla. She founded her company, Neuro Motion Tele Health, to address the lack of expert care in underserved communities across the country.
In addition to her clinical practice, Gould serves as a sub-investigator in cutting-edge research utilizing induced pluripotent stem cells technology for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.
Driven by empowering individuals with Parkinson’s to reach their highest potential both physically and spiritually, Gould has led hiking expeditions for patients around the world, including Mt. Kilimanjaro, Everest Base Camp, Machu Picchu, Camumo de Santiago in Spain, Italy’s Dolomite Mountains, the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage in Japan, and Bali. Each trek serves as a fundraiser to support Parkinson’s research and community resources.
Members, family, friends, caregivers and other interested individuals are invited to attend. RSVPs are appreciated. For more information, contact Yoko Kawaguchi at (626) 525-9779, Lorraine Arakaki at (818) 317-8006, or Union Church at (213) 629-3880 (Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
