As part of United Against Hate Week (Oct. 18-24), L.A. vs. Hate and AAPI Equity Alliance will host a screening of “Minnesota Neighbors” (2026, 60 minutes), a new documentary from Not In Our Town about Minnesotans from different backgrounds who came together to support their immigrant neighbors and respond to hate with courage, compassion, and community.
The program will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Japanese American National Museum’s Democracy Center, 100 N. Central Ave. in Little Tokyo.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion on how these themes resonate locally, highlighting examples of resistance and solidarity and how everyday people can take action against anti-immigrant hate.
Panelists include Christine Najung Lee, deputy director of the Asian Youth Center and an L.A. vs. Hate Rapid Response Network partner, and Ariel Bustamante, senior manager of youth initiatives, policy and community-building at the L.A. LGBT Center.
Taking place ahead of the 2026 election, the event will also explore how people can help shape their communities, stand with their neighbors, and build a more inclusive democracy.
Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for seniors, students, and youth ages 6 to 17.
