Palos Verdes High golfing star Rina Kawasaki has given her commitment to join the USC Women’s Golf team in 2028 after graduating from high school.

“Thank you to my family, friends, and coaches for always being there by my side, as none of this would be possible without all the support!” she posted after her decision became official.

In an interview series with the Japanese Consulate General in Los Angeles, Kawasaki said her parents moved to the U.S. from Japan to help her receive a well-rounded education.

“I moved here when I was 3, so I didn’t feel much of a language barrier, but I don’t have many opportunities to learn Japanese, so I’ll do my best.”

Kawasaki took first place a this year’s AJGA Forti-net Girls Invitational at Stanford University. She also finished first at the 2024 CIF State Championship and took second place in 2025.

“I want to join a golf club in the United States after graduating and become a professional golfer,” she added. “I want to compete in various tournaments in Japan as well as the U.S., gaining a lot of experience. Please cheer me on.”
