“Dancing for the Dojo,” an evening of dinner and dance to benefit the Furuya Foundation and the Aikido Center of Los Angeles, will take place on Saturday, Nov. 14, at Pasadena Buddhist Temple, 1993 Glen Ave., Pasadena. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

After more than 50 years, the Aikido Center of Los Angeles has signed a lease for its first permanent home at 232 Judge John Also St. in Little Tokyo’s Go For Broke Plaza. Construction drawings are complete, city permits are in process, and the opening is planned for early 2027. Funds raised will go toward the $350,000 build-out of a dojo that will serve the community for generations.

The event will feature music by Kokoro and Friends, line dancing, door prizes, an opportunity drawing, and a silent auction.

The Furuya Foundation is a registered nonprofit 501(c)3 educational and community organization dedicated to continuing the work of Rev.
